Looking Forward To The Finale Of Stranger Things Season 4

As we all know, the final two episodes of season four of Stranger Things is coming out tomorrow, July 1st 2022.  This season has had viewers wrapped around its finger. If you’re anywhere on the internet, it’s possible you’ll stumble into some Stranger Things discourse.  Fan theories, TikToks, and recreations of escaping the Upside Down have been rampant.  All I know is that Vecna better watch out because these kids are going to turn it out in these last two episodes.

One thing I’ve been loving about Stranger Things this season is its use of music.  Everyone’s been obsessed with Max’s mental square-up scene with the terrifying (and Grinchy looking) Vecna.  “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush booms loudly in the background as she battles the tight grip Vecna has on her.  Due to this amazing scene, “Running Up That Hill”, a song released by Kate Bush back in 1985 is back on the Billboard charts and has stayed put.  It’s currently number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, which is vastly different from what the song charted back in its day.  “Running Up That Hill” is proof that a song’s true success could hit at any given moment.  For Kate Bush’s freedom stricken anthem, that time is now.

“Running Up That Hill” shouldn’t get all the glory for stellar music use this season, however.  In the recent trailer released for the final two episodes, we see Eddie Munson totally shredding it on a guitar in the Upside Down.  Eddie’s character is rising in fandom royalty, as he’s become a fan favorite this season.  He is one of my favorite characters in the show, tied of course, with Steve Harrington (with the good hair). Fans have been dying to see what song Eddie is going to play on that guitar.  Is it going to be AC/DC? Metallica? Europe’s “The Final Countdown”? Personally, I’m going to love whatever I hear Eddie play, as long as he makes it out alive in the end.

The stoner anthem “Pass The Dutchie” by Musical Youth has also been trending thanks to Argyle and Jonathan’s new weed smoking habit on the show. The chilled out, island vibes the song has are definitely needed this summer. The use of “Dream a Little Dream” by Ella Fitzgerald was awesomely eerie, and perfectly created the energy of Victor Creel’s Amityville inspired house of horrors.

Overall, I’m beyond excited to see what song each character uses to escape Vecna. I hope to see Will Byers escape with The Clashes’ “Should I Stay or Should I Go”, the song that Jonathan and Will bonded over back in season 1.  It’s been amazing to watch these characters grow over the years, and in a way, I feel like I’ve done some growing up with them.  I can’t wait to see what’s next!
